Geological
GEL Geophysics, LLC assisted a major infrastructure contractor map the depth to bedrock prior to installing a sewer main in
Charlotte-Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Encounters with the detached bedrock, found in this region, were delaying the progress of construction.
GEL Geophysics completed a 100 MHz ground penetrating radar investigation along 4 miles of right-of-way. Data acquisition was completed in one day.
The result of this investigation was a set of cross-sections of the subsurface overlain onto construction profiles, which could be used by
the excavators to anticipate and avoid potential conflicts with bedrock.
